Hello TUSMC members,Here are a few things I'd like to bring up to you all:
1. Buying and selling or adopting:
I would like you all to use the classifieds for any pets or pet items you want to sell/buy or find a new home for. The url is: http://www.InsideTheWeb.com/messageboard/mbs.cgi/mb86021
If you should have any problems with this link, please get back to me.2. Guinea Tales:
Hello guinea pig owners,As you all know, the Guinea Tales site is now what you might call "down" due to erratic incompatibilities with the server. For those of you with this link, please delete this for the present moment. Right now, I'm looking to put the whole GT site on the same server as the HT site as this will give the surfer the fastest acessing time. If not, the GT site will still be worked on so as to get it up and running for visitors regardless of server. In the meantime, I'd appreciate any help in the form of pictures or writeups. You can write in to me expressively about what you'd like to see on the site when it is up. Send in any photos that you would like to be included. Thanks for all your help.
3. Membership:
There are now presently 11 of us on the list, including Karin. If any of your friends would like to join the TUSMC mailing list, please direct them to the sign up page or have them mail me at tusmc@angelfire.com. Some of you have been quiet all this while but please feel free to tell us anything at all about your pets, pet experiences or even what you expect from the TUSMC membership. The link for joining is http://tusmc.listbot.com . Archives can also be read here.
For those of you who still are a bit unsure, My name is Sherry and I'm the primary webmaster of Hamster Tales, Guinea Tales and Rabbit Tales. Of course, they are done with much help from many people, some of whom are on the list. I've had all three types of pets but my interest is more the syrian hamster. Most questions can thus be directed to me. All the other advisors can also help you - their names appear on the TUSMC homepage. https://members.tripod.com/~sherrynee/tusmc.htm
4. Conduct:
Now, as pet owners who love their pets, I hope that you discuss topics on this list with some respect to other list members - no foul language and no flaming. People who do this will be taken off the list IMMEDIATELY. No disgusting jokes or disrespectful remarks about pets or their owners. If you have criticisms concerning certain subjects, by all means, voice them out. However, I'm sure that all of you can do this within reason.
5. Change of HT url/server:
Hamster Tales has been put on another site and some of the bugs regarding images are still being ironed out. However, these should be set right very soon. Some of you may be confused since both the sites on the different servers are the same. The new server should give no problems but the old site remains for those who have not been informed yet of the change. The new home of HT is http://sps.nus.edu.sg/~neesohye. So fast it's almost like acessing the site on a local disk!!
6. ONELIST?LISTBOT?? HUH??
All members are on both the onelist and the listbot lists. The addition onto onelist was to facilitate larger mails and for other misc. reasons. I decided to do so only after much deliberation and only after I found an easy way to add all of you on without losing anyone and without much inconvenience. If there are any comments about the two list servers, please mail these to me. If there are serious objections, please mail me as well.
Specifically onelist... To beat the inbox blues...
Onelist allows you some options of which you can try out at http://www.onelist.com. One of these is to allow you to have the list mail compiled in a "digest" form. This is advisable for those of you who do not check your mail at least every three days or so.
OK, that should be it...my, what a long mail!! However, there's more to go in TUSMC matters newletter 2!! This one will talk about activities so write in with comments. Thanks!
PS: One can also acess the Tales sites through the url: http://come.to/tusmc

Membership:
Someone mentioned to me that 11 members is a very small group and I do agree. However, I am optimistic for more additions later as more people know about the club. Also, there are some members who are not on the list as they do not check their emails regularly. The list members are all Singaporeans with the exception of Karin and this of course, decreases the number of members that we can potentially have. Having the net as the medium is also difficult as some members of the public do not have easy access to the internet. I do know of pple on the net who live elsewhere who are willing to help with questions as well so getting answers to your queries shouldn't prove too much of a problem despite the small pool of pple present in the club. In the future, I may be separating the lists so that people who have one type of pet do not have to sit through stuff on another which may not interest them. However, this should come very much later when we have more members. Please do ask any of your friends with pets like guinea pigs, hamsters and rabbits whether they'd like to join. If any of you use other lists or sites where you can post a message, please help by posting one about the TUSMC. Thanks a bunch!!
Activities:
So, since the number is small, we will wait until there are more members before deciding on any activities. Some potential ones include quizzes and little pet shows. However, I'd like to hear what all of you think! Write in to me about it.Side issue:
I hope that all of you will make use of the classifieds to decrease certain traffic to the list which not everyone may have an interest in. This also provides better organization as one can go straightaway to the classifieds to see whether there is anything interesting. Posts will also not be erased for 3 months so pple who have changed their minds can come back and find out how to contact you. The link is:
http://www.InsideTheWeb.com/messageboard/mbs.cgi/mb86021 If you should
have any trouble with this link, please get back to me!
OK, That's all and Merry Christmas!!

Hello everyone!1. Membership
Becos of a little "recruitment drive" of sorts, we have now almost doubled our membership! However, I would still like everyone to help in finding new interested members who love and have small mammals as pets. By small mammals I mean rabbits, guinea pigs and hamsters presently. Perhaps, in the future, we can also discuss chinchilla, gerbils, mice and others. I mean it, I really need your help!
2. The Hamster mailing list:The discussion so far has been a bit skewed to hamster health and other general hamster questions. Most of our members have hamsters as pets but I recognise the fact that not everyone does. Therefore, a new list will be started exclusively for discussion of hamsters. In the future, mail all hamster questions/messages to tusmc_hamsters@onelist.com. Those who have specified in their application form or otherwise that they have hamsters as pets will be on the list. Those who would like to join or am not sure whether they would like to be on this list, please email me. This list will be effective by next week, starting the 4th of January.
3. What happens to the other list?
The other list remains to inform people of activities and other updates. You may still mail any questions and messages there regarding your pets and other pet related topics.4. I don't want to recieve mail.
You can go to your account information at http://www.onelist.com and put "no mail". You may also unsubscribe completely. You can still remain in the club but inform me and I will only send along invites to any activities we have and other announcements. Or, you may chose remain on the general mailing list for the time being. The list members will slowly be divided into lists appropriate for the type of small mammal they own.
5. Archives:
To view the archives, go to: http://www.onelist.com/archives.cgi/tusmc In future, this link together with the link for the classifieds (http://www.InsideTheWeb.com/messageboard/mbs.cgi/mb86021) will be appended to the end of al llist mails.6. Netletters;
Due to the fact that we have new members joining, it is difficult for me to keep track of those who have not recieved previous netletters. Therefore, there is now an archive of the netletters and this can be found at: https://members.tripod.com/~sherrynee/tusmc_netletters.htm. Please visit this page if you
have just joined and have missed out on other netletters. These should answer many of your questions.7. Activities and suggestions:
Hey, guys! I've been asking you all for suggestions, comments and what-nots and you all have been so quiet! Even if they should be complaints ( u don't like the management, the websites stink...whatever), please at least tell me!! Well, as you all know, we are not registered, due to some of the reasons already mentioned on the TUSMC site, so that means no unlawful assemblies. However, I'm sure there's stuff we can all participate in which would be fun. Think on it!
Sincerely,
Sherry

Netletter 3
Date: Sun, 17 Jan 1999 16:47:38 +0800Hello Members,
There hasn't been a net letter for a long time and I apologise for that. However, netletters will only be sent when there is something to say so here's some more stuff to think on:
1. Firstly, there's really exciting news! There's to be a photo contest. Details are also available at : https://members.tripod.com/~sherrynee/picturecontest.htm
This is open to all members. Each of you are allowed to send in up to three photos you have taken of your small mammal pet. This may include hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits, gerbils...and so on.The theme will be "The cuteness factor". Send in photos of your pet which you think are the cutest. Include a title and a caption (this is optional).
All the photos will be put up on the TUSMC site (https://members.tripod.com/~sherrynee). Everyone will then take a vote. A winner will be chosen from those who have submitted the winning photo and one from those those who voted for the winning photo. No one person will be allowed to win both prizes.
All photos will be numbered and you vote by choosing the two numbers corresponding to the photos you think should win. All senders' names will not be included together with their photos on the page during the voting period to make it as fair as possible.
Everyone is allowed to vote twice. Please fill in the form in full so that the it will be easy to process the votes.
Prizes:
Participents will get something especially for their pet, depending on what type of small mammal you have.
The winning photo will be featured in the "winners page" on the TUSMC site.
Deadlines:
Deadline for submission of photos: The 15th of June
Sending them in: Please scan your photos in a JPEG format and send them
to slushy@cheerful.comPlease address any questions directly to me at tusmc@angelfire.com
2. The Hamster Tales site is not longer found at the tripod server anymore. The url
https://members.tripod.com/~sherrynee will be for the use of the club. Therefore, all you will find there will be the club pages. Due to the recent change, some of the links may not work and if that is the case, please do inform me about it. There should be a few more changes but do give me feedback.Thanks.
Sincerely,
Sherry

Hello members!1. Lists:
There has been a lot of mail on the hamster list and some on the rabbit list. The guinea pig list, though, has been quiet. There are people on it, so write in with your messages, questions, stories, comments...whatever...
The page for links to subscribing to the lists has been updated and hopefully, there is enough information there to help you all understand how it works and get you all participating. Go to
https://members.tripod.com/~sherrynee/tusmc_list.htmIf you still have any questions or think that there should be other additional information, please mail me with your suggestions.
You cannot read other list archives if you are not subscribed to them.
The main list, TUSMC (this one) will become an announcement list.
2. The club site:
As most of you know, the site is now at https://members.tripod.com/~sherrynee. Hamster Tales and Guinea Tales have relocated to http://sps.nus.edu.sg/~neesohye (for Hamster Tales) and add gp.htm for Guinea Tales.
There are now some features at the site:
a) links to member sites. Please submit your site with a description at https://members.tripod.com/~sherrynee/hamsterlinkform.htm . All sites will be looked at before approval but don't worry, it's mostly just to make sure there is substance and is suitable for all age groups. So, do yours up now and send in the link! If you just have pictures and text you would like to be featured, you may also send these along for future
pages.b) In pet information and fun activities, there is now presently an article for you to download. In future, there will be more for you to download or save off the server. I welcome you to send in your articles for this page of the site. There is also a quiz presently there for you to try.
c)Netletters: like this one, please read them if you have just joined. They should help with your questions.
d) there is a survey at the site now. Please try it out - there should be one every fornight or so and results will be put up on the site and posted through the list.
3. Chat/forum: I will give you all the time and date for the chat some time later.
4. The photo contest is on now and I invite all of you to send in your pictures - there are now a few at the site, please feel free to take a look at them. You are allowed to send in pictures of any small mammal that you have as a pet. Voting starts later so please don't vote now.
lastly, if there are any broken links, please report this to me at slushy@cheerful.com.
If you like to help with any of the site stuff (HTML, Javescript, layout, pictures, graphics, text, news...), please just mail me!! I would like some people to help me maintain the site so that it doesn't become a cobweb.
Sincerely,
SherryHello members,
1. New helping member:
Let us welcome Jermie, who will be helping the club with administrative
and PR matters. All questions about membership and applications should
be sent to her. Any queries or requests for contests and promotions
should also be directed to her. The email address to send to is: tusmc@angelfire.comA full autobiography will follow in the next netletter.
2. Sponsership:
As our recent photo contest draws near to a close, I would like to ask
members who are willing to sponser our next contest to email me. This is
not a huge sum and need only to provide for prizes which should be
mostly pet products. Please feel free to email me about it.3. Logos:
There are a few logos now on the site which I hope you would pick up to put on your personal sites to help us welcome people
to the pet sites. https://members.tripod.com/~sherrynee4. Pictures and other help;
If you have pictures of chinchillas or gerbils please do send them in.
As usual, any pictures for the three sites (rabbit tales, guinea tales and hamster tales) are welcome. I'm currently scouting
